EGL Eagle Global Logistics, a Houston-based firm that arranges freight shipments, said its net income for the third quarter was $17.5 million or 36 cents, compared with $5.6 million or 12 cents a year earlier.

Net revenues rose 23% to $226 million, the company said in a statment. EGL said it saw "strong volumes across all product lines and geographic areas."

The company said it expected fourth-quarter profits to be 32 cents or 33 cents a share.
