I'm considering starting a Roth IRA because of the tax-exempt benefits. I'm also looking for a place to invest some money which would allow me to get some payback in the 5-10 year range to provide some additional income for early retirement. The IRS says there's an exception to the 10% penalty on early distributions from a Roth IRA if "The distributions are part of a series of substantially equal periodic payments." I can't find any other documentation on this to understand if it would provide what I'm looking for.Any comments or suggestions?
