Eddie Merckx doesn't resonate with me the way Greg LeMond does (or the way Armstrong once did).

Yea, I was a junior racer in the 80's when Lemond turned pro so he'll always be my favorite too (plus, I'm not Belgian). He was one of the last of an era of racers that didn't just specialize in one type of race and he always raced Paris-Roubaix, one of my favorites. That said, in terms of winning, no one will ever come close to Merckx.
