I think I saw somewhere that funds held in an education IRA account have to be accounted for when a student is applying for financial aid. In other words, the college or financial aid dept. looks at the education IRA account balance when deciding what kind of financial aid to give the student. Is this true? And if so, is this true as well with the 529 plan?
