Either "The Intelligent Investor" by Ben Graham or
"Common Stock And Uncommon Profits" by Phil Fisher
is a good starting point. Neither is overly technical
and both are good reads.

When you get a little further along I recommend an early
edition of Security Analysis. (Avoid the 5th edition it has
nothing by Graham in it and is a complete way of time.)
I got a facsimile copy of the first edition for cheap on
eBay and it can be read by anyone with a high school edition
who understands elementary algebra.
