Elantec (ELNT: news, chart, profile), a maker of analog microchips, reported second-quarter net income of $930,000, or 4 cents a share, on revenue of $25.4 million. During the same quarter last year, net income was $3 million, or 22 cents a share, on revenue of $30.6 million. Excluding charges, income was $3 million, or 12 cents a share. Five analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial/First Call expected earnings of either 10 or 11 cents a share. For the third quarter, Elantec expects sequential revenue growth of 6 percent to 8 percent and earnings excluding charges of 13 cents to 14 cents a share. Also, Elantec said its acquisition by Intersil (ISIL: news, chart, profile) should be complete in mid-May.
