Having just ran the Rule Maker Ranker for EMC's last 9 months based on their 3rd
quarter results and I must say I like what I see. The Total Score came
out to 51 out of a possible 60 - making it a Top Tier company.
I have been following EMC since Sept. 1998 and they have consistently been
moving upwards in score but this is the first time they have broken the “50's”
threshold.

In the Internet Report on Network Storage from Nov. 14, 2000 page 8, it was stated that EMC did not meet the Rule Maker Criteria for Cash to Debt Ratio of over 1.5. In my calculations I came out with a ratio of 16.61 definitely meeting the criteria. I used nearly the same figures reported on page 9, namely Cash and Equivalents of 2708, Long Term Debt of 151 and differing slightly on Short Term Debt (Current Portion of Long Term Debt Payments) of 12 (millions).
