I got excited about antiangiogenic medicines, a brilliant thought of Judah Folkman that cancers needed to stimulate blood vessels to grow along with them. If something could block the blood vessels from multiplying and growing the cancer would remain tiny and essentially become a chronic illness. Many important scientists were excited by this strategy and in fact my purchase of the stock at 25 soon become exciting when it got to over 100. And this with no new discoveries, just a lot of investors and scientists very excited. The problem was the idea couldn't be patented and ENMD which was working very hard to bring a drug to market couldn't compete with the big boys who raced right by them. Avastin was the first and others followed while ENMD never did get a drug approved for actual usage. The stock now languishes at 1 or 2 and the company often has been close to folding. Naturally I sold nothing at !00 since there really was no good reason for it to go so high and bought more and still more on its travel down to where it is today. I lost a small fortune.
