I can't believe it, but a few days ago I got a revised 1099-DIV from E*Trade (in June, yet, but with a correction date of 05/29/09). OK, I have run the numbers, and it looks like I owe the IRS $8! Is this anything to worry about?

I'm not even sure how to handle paying it, if it is necessary. I suppose there are penalties and interest which shouldn't amount to much. It is not paying $8 that bothers me, but it sounds like a lot of pain and even expense for the IRS over a very, very small matter.

Should I wait for the IRS to bill me?
