Even tho lots of folks don't know who Payne Stewart was, any decent, caring human being would have cause to be horrified at the way they died. And you're absolutely correct: thank God no one was injured on the ground. That plane could have crashed anywhere!

I'll admit that I'm no a big golf fan, but whenever I here of something like this I am saddened. I always feel for the family. I also feel for the familiy's of the other "not so famous" people. I've seen too many plane crashes and I can tell you it is the worst thing your could ever witness. It's been around 10 years since the air show accident at Ramstein AB, and I remeber the events like it happened yesterday.

Since I work (civilain) on an Air Force base, this whole story was the main topic of conversation this morning. Some of the senior ATC folk that I know said it's the one of the strangest things he's ever heard of in the 25 years of being an ATC.

He also said that the ATC folks in the states must have had one hectic time keeping the flight path clear from other planes. I am just so glad that no one on the ground was injured.
