Everything I've been doing actually got my mom motivated, too. She had more than 5 years where she didn't have steady employment, and she defaulted on several loans, including student loans. After a couple of years of ducking their phone calls, she finally actually talked to someone this week. Result: the student loans have been refinanced, most of the penalties and late payment fees waived, and her payment plan accepted. She feels so great! (does taking this much control over her debt, even at this point, earn her a small dance?)

YES!

The longest journey starts with a single step.

Congratulations to mother and daughter both!
