Excess fat is a symptom of a poor diet and/or lack of exercise. Correct what needs to be corrected and you will lose weight. Simple. There are no magic tricks. Eat natural, whole foods and exercise regularly.

Although most of the time, it's a symptom of a poor diet/lack of excercize, excess fat can also be a symptom of various illnesses, including certain hormonal ones (PCOS comes to mind, for instance). It can also be a side effect of certain medications, including tricyclic antidepressants and some forms of birth control.

Not that eating a good diet and regular excercise is a bad thing, but sometimes it's not the lack of either of those that is the problem, and the introduction of both of them may not solve the problems if that's the case. It can't hurt, however, to eat healthy foods and to excercise within your physical limits.
