Here is an approach I use when on treadmill to help the time go faster and reduce the mental stress to complete my exercise time window.

I watch TED talks or YOUTUBE videos (no big deal, lots of people do this), but what I do different is I wear a DOLBY noise reduction headset. Using the headset, I never hear the machine going or the noise of the track over the rollers. My mind is focused on the video, no noise distraction. I really think that the noise adds to the stress when exercising.

For me, this has reduced the stress of getting though my exercise time. Most times, the time is up before I know it because I am watching the video and keeping my concentration free from the machine noise.
