Falafel is my favorite fast food. The joint I patronized most in NYC (Soom-Soom on 72nd at Broadway...Upper West Side), fulfilled my order in maybe 1 minute without a line. Then I take another minute adding toppings from the salad bar...raw and pickled vegetables, spicy and savory sauces. Now I'm drooling! IIRC it's $6.50 for 5 falafel in a real nice pita plus as many condiments as you wish. Another 50 cents for humus in addition to regular condiments and 75 cents for fried eggplant in addition. $3 for a wonderful mint-lemonade made from scratch and not especially sweet--very thirst quenching, enough for 2.

I'd love to try other items, but I have been seduced by the falafel ;-)
