Fight the ticket. You can delay it insurance wise for a while. If DH is patient enough and can conduct himself well without getting rattled, have him take it to trial. At least you buy some time without inflaming the insurers, those charmers.

Courts are usually busy, so they will reduce speed a bit to avoid going to trial.I've seen this happen. Amazon has a book they sell for getting out of tickets, too. I'll look it up and post it later.

I usually get loud with the police, so I get few breaks.

Go visit the school people, if feasible. Be polite and say "I know it's been a busy with the holiday but----------. Do you have any word for me?

Tell the insurance company nothing yet.
