2013 Update: Net worth up 37% in 2013. [S&P +30%] (Net worth up 6.5X in past 10 years) a crazy 10 year ride so far.Current Portfolio: 31% Picked Stocks (7% net worth in PFE, BMY,WMT) (13% company stock, after tax)32% 401k Mutual Funds (70% S&P500 index fund)10% Fixed Income (Cash Savings, Money Market, I-bonds)80% California Real Estate (Our House Value*0.93)-53% Mortgage 3.625% fixed 30yr2013: 39 years old now. Monster year in the stock market with the S&P up 30%. We quickly moved right past the 1E6 mark and beyond this year, an accomplishment that I’ve only shared with my wife and mother.Managed to get our fixed income to 10% up from 8% last year, as a more solid e-fund. My stock picking did very well this year, and my company stock which I’m heavily invested in jumped around 100% this year. I sell as much as I can, based on various vesting schedules. Fully funded 401k, did back door Roth in wife’s name, and maxed I-bonds at $10k this year. I don’t expect this next year to be near as good, both in the markets, and our expenses will be higher due to an all summer long vacation planned for the wife and kids, I’ll join them for a month of it. My job continues to be stable, and now have nearly 6 weeks vacation/year.In 2016 I plan to take a 3 month leave of absence if all continue to go well. A little FI reward. Longer term, looking to FIRE in another 10 years… but after this crazy year, hoping to pull that in. But with 2 kids in private school, 6yo, 8yo, long time before they are through college. Also started a little $200/hr small consulting gig on the side for fun. Testing it out to see if I want to expand in the future as a semi-retire option. It’s looking promising so far, but just using the money to fund my hobbies for now.2012 Update: NW +20% [S&P +13%]http://boards.fool.com/fire-update-2012-30479985.aspx2011 Update: NW +9% [S&P +0%]http://boards.fool.com/fire-update-2011-29755919.aspx2010 Update: NW +31% [S&P +13%]http://boards.fool.com/fire-update-2010-28994598.aspx2009 Update: NW +6% [S&P +23%]http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=282793322008 Update: NW (-31%) [S&P -40%]http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=273495322007 Update: NW +15% [S&P +6%]http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=262435662006 Update: NW +23% [S&P +14%]http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=249993702005 Update: NW +46% [S&P +3%]http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=235078902004 Update: NW +82% (mostly home value increase) [S&P +9%]http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=218426762003 Update: Net worth (NW) baseline = 1.0 (about 1.5X annual income at the time)http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=20380221--whyohwhyoh
