Elantec Introduces Industry's First Integrated DC-restore and Sync-separator IC
New EL4501C Streamlines Video Circuit Design by Integrating Common Input Components
MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2002--Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELNT - news), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, today introduced the industry's first integrated DC-restore and sync-separator IC combining two functions that are usually provided by separate ICs.

With 100MHz bandwidth, the EL4501C is designed for input interface applications where it processes the video signal and extracts timing information, making it ready for further video processing. The EL4501C also includes a data-slice function for extracting embedded data information in the video signal. Applications include high-volume consumer products, as well as professional equipment, security video, data extraction and video effects equipment. The EL4501C operates from a single 5V supply, features inputs that go to GND, and has rail-to-rail output capability.

Michael Jennings, director of Strategic Marketing for Video and Amplifier Products at Elantec, said, "Separate DC-restore and sync-separator video functions are normally purchased in combination. By integrating them, Elantec can now offer our customers a board area saving and a reduced cost for this important video function. The specifications of the EL4501C make it ideal for high volume applications that require single 5V-supply operation. The new sync separator used in the EL4501C has been optimized specifically for applications such as consumer electronics where the quality of the incoming signal is not as clean as in professional applications."

The EL4501C is available in sample quantities now. It comes in a 24-pin TSSOP package and is priced at $4.50 in 1,000-unit quantities.

For more information on these and other products available from Elantec, please visit our web site at www.elantec.com, or contact our applications department at 408/945-1323 ext. 311.

Elantec designs, manufactures and markets high performance analog integrated circuits primarily for the video, optical storage, communications and power management markets. The Company targets high growth commercial markets in which advances in digital integrated circuit technology are driving increasing demand for high speed, high performance and low power consumption analog circuits.

Certain matters discussed in this press release pertaining to the market trends, product performance and cost effectiveness are forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties. These risks and uncertainties include product introductions by the Company's competitors, competitive pricing pressures, fluctuations in manufacturing yield, changes in the mix or markets in which products are sold, availability and cost of raw materials and other risks discussed in the Company's most recent filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Elantec is under no obligation, and expressly disclaims any obligation, to update or alter any forward-looking statements, whether as a result of new information, future events or otherwise.
