First, the Bush-McCain-Kennedy wartime GWOT Plan to provide amnesty to American tax criminals.
Holy slanderous mischaracterizations, Batman!
There are hundreds of clauses in the immigration bill covering everything from (to pick just a few): staffing levels at the border; the creation of a "passport card" valid for travel between the U.S., Canada, Mexico and a few other countries; and a 1-year trial surveillance of the U.S./Canada border by unmanned aerial vehicle.
One (controversial) section of the bill covers the "Work Authorization and Legalization of Undocumented Individuals." This might be better described as the non-amnesty amnesty. It would give illegals who have been working continuously in the U.S. for at least five years eligibility to become regular immigrants. To be eligible, they have to meet all of the regular requirements -- i.e. no criminal record -- and they have to be able to prove they were working.
The first little subsection you pulled out indemnifies the employers who provide such workers the records they need in order to prove their eligibility.
Without such a provision, the illegal immigrants the program is intended to reach would be stuck in a Catch-22, unable to prove they were eligible because no employer would help them for fear of the legal repercussions.
You follow up with the CBO cost estimates, trying to imply some kind of connection to the "tax criminals".
This is just sad. The CBO cost estimates refer instead to the additional payout that will be required from Medicare and Social Security when the (formerly illegal) immigrants eventually retire. IF they are going to be reclassified as immigrants, and have been and will continue to contribute payroll taxes then it is only fair they eventually receive such benefits.
In sum, your inflammatory description of the bill is not substantiated by the link you provided. This is typical of your posting style: you state political opinions more appropriate to PA on non-political boards using the pretext of a link to some online source with a few words related to the board topic to obscure the fact that your content (in this case and many others) is simply not germane. This board may be liberal, but your shtick belongs elsewhere.
