Hi, I'm new and have enjoyed this board for about a week now, as well as some others on Motley Fool... yesterday I took the plunge and registered (I get a free book?).

I was especially happy to learn I'm not alone in my troubles with First USA.

Without going into too much detail, through a combination of bad luck over the years and slack discipline my new husband and I are starting our marriage with a mountain of credit card debt. We are resolved to pay it down in a year or less.

With the wedding behind us, we're making progress quickly (I've been a fanatical Quicken user for years, despite having lost data twice in burglaries and having to start over; yes, I make those backups now), with the First USA MC almost paid off already (we call it "the loan shark card." I cut it up back in May, a mere five months after opening the account).

I'm writing today because I received notice in the mail that the CC account we are tackling next has just been bought by First USA! Agghhhh, just when I thought they were out of my hair!

I'm not offering advice or asking a question here, just sharing my frustration... it just KILLS me to give money to these crooks!

Hopefully in the future I'll be able to say something more constructive. I work in the brokerage industry actually (I design online brokerage sites that I can't even use until we're out of debt) and may be able to offer insight in that area.

In the meantime, thanks everyone for building a nice community here.
