Boy, did I get duped.

I bought TALK America a couple of weeks ago, so being the kind of
person I am to support what I own, I also signed up for TALK
Local/Long distance. At first glance, it seemed like it was going to
save me about $10/month on my phone bill. Nice. I get to own a
company I use and it saves me money!

However, upon receiving my first "bill", there was a plethora of
extra "Taxes" (note: code-word for hidden charges) on my bill.

My SBC bill contained only 1 tax, the Federal 3% tax.
Here is a list of the taxes on my TALK Bill:

Description Amount
Sales Tax (State) 2.35
Sales Tax (County) 0.29
Federal Excise Tax (Fed) 1.03
Common Line Charge 5.39
TSR Administration Fee 1.25
Fed Telecommunications Relay Service (Fed)	0.01
Fed USF Combined High Cost and School (Fed)	0.60
Local Number Portability Surcharge 0.28
Total Taxes and Other Charges 11.20

Note especially the "Common Line Charge" of $5.39, the "TSR
Administration Fee" of $1.25 and the "Local Number Portability
Surcharge" of $0.28 -- Give me a break!

Here's the real kick-in-the-head -- My SBC bill for last month was
$42.64 while my new first month's billing for TALK (billed in advance
I might add) is $42.90 -- $0.28 HIGHER than I paid before!!

What a crock.

Richard
