Foolishjk I have moved through the us vs them. I spent 22 years on active duty, and when I retired, one of the jobs I had was with a defence contractor. I moved from aircraft to ships, but still the way the bills were paid was to charge the government. I worked with provisioning ships and tech documentation. The people in the shop could not understand why I wanted to make sure that every last bit of equipment that was required was loaded prior to transfer. They did not know what it was like to be bounced around at sea attempting to repair some equipment that the spares had never been loaded or the book was not finished. When I was asked who I was working for by my boss, a retired E9, I said the white hat that was going to have to operate, maintain, and rely on the ship to protest them. He understood the answer, but others in the organization did not.
