For an examination of the current information on L'Affaire Petraeus, you can see my blog item:

Back in the early 1970s, I had considerable contact with some Soviet scientists. They even gave me an award during detente in 1976 (I think it was that year), the first Western scientist to get it. After each contact, I was debriefed by the CIA. As to the prize, I had to get myself to London and back, but the Soviets paid for everything else. I ended up with a bit of prize money which I handed over to the authorities, but they said "go to the kiosk and get some wood carvings." I did this and had some coins left over. they said, "Souvenir." and let me go. My government bureau somehow paid to get me to London and back even though there was an iron clad travel ban going on.

I always figured that my telephone was being bugged and mail examined. I hope they didn't fall asleep if they were doing it because I am a pretty dull fellow. My late-older brother always figured I was secretly working for the CIA. It wasn't true, but his family believed it.
