For efficiency, a PVT (photovoltaic-thermal) panel should be looked at, as long as you have a use for the harvested heat. I'm currently modifying my house, when I have spare time, to run summer attic heat first through a hot water prewarming tank then a loop through the soil under the house. We have been using fans to harvest summer heat for some years. The soil has been increasing temperature by a few degrees each year, and is now making a minor impact on the heating bill as well as already cutting cooling bills.
