For that matter, what are the "ethics" of taking advantage of public television if you don't pull out your checkbook when they hold their annual pledge drive? <grin> They're not funded entirely by taxpayers, you know -- they rely heavily on voluntary contributions.

Okay, I haven't read all the way through here yet, but I wanted to address this specifically.

DH and I pay attention to which public-supported stations we watch/listen to, and we make a point of supporting them for exactly that reason. If they are providing a service that I use, I feel obligated to pay for it.
