So, we are in the process of requesting a copy of my Mother-in-law's final tax return.
Both my wife and her sister were named executors in the will, however, the sister handled the bulk of the financial doings for the last few years and her (lawyer) husband handled the final return and the probate.
My wife wants to see the final return independant of requesting it from her sister, so we a preparing a 4506 to request a complete copy of the final return.
The question is, 4506 asks for the deceased's last address and the address from which the final return was filed from. We are not sure what address's the sister and her husband used in filing those returns - the assisted living facility, the sister's home address or the brother-in-law's law office.
Will the IRS react favorably if we simply write "Deceased" in the address blocks for the Mother-in-law, entering our address for the mail to address?
There is a substantial amount of money in play, as well as jewelry, etc.
