Frankly, it seems to me, as it apparently does to you, that Alan Alda is portraying a thoughtful, rational, reasonable Republican candidate. (And THAT may be the message, of course!) It will be most interesting, indeed, to see how the writers choose to steer this in the fall.

The political horse trading going on at that convention in the season finale was fascinating to watch.

Later that night, Jimmy Smits was being interviewed on TV about his character winning the nomination and when asked if he'll be the new president next season said:

"Hey... don't rule out the Man from MASH".

It would be very interesting to see if this show swings from left to right and then tackle the same hot button issues from the viewpoint of a GOP administration.
