This question may have been asked here before, but I can't find the relevant posts. Is there a way to file my tax return online for free? I would much prefer that over burdening the IRS with all my paper forms. It would seem that such an option should be available. However, the IRS website directs me to commercial services for which I have to pay a fee.

My return is very simple - I make more than the $51,000 AGI that free filing seems to require, but I don't itemize deductions and I have only a few capital gains transactions.

It appears that I have no option except the low tech, paper way.

Thank you,
Calpinist
