Socialist tyrants promise security - through an all-powerful massive government run by one or a few bureaucrats - to the masses under the ruse that they care about the people's welfare when what they really want is control over the lives of individuals. Constitutional conservatives, on the other hand believe in individual liberty, self-sufficiency, and a limited government whose primary purpose is to protect God-given (not government-given) rights. The government is not a provider of benefits but a protector of rights.
