Fried dough (New Englanders will know what this is)

When I was a kid and my mother used to make bread, she would use up any leftover dough by making little balls and deep frying it. We would eat it hot, right out of the hot oil, with jelly. It was a real treat that I liked even more than the wonderful hot slices of buttered bread,which we at right out of the oven.
