From American Thinker:

NY Times goes apoplectic over legal validation of Jewish settlements

Good article.

A very politically partisan article. It ignores the fact that it has been the policy of every Israeli government since 1967 to treat the West Bank as territory under military occupation. Israel could choose to annex the West Bank, as it did with east Jerusalem, and deal with the consequences. It prefers not to do so. Many legal experts in Israel have strongly criticized the panel's recommendations, and it is likely that Netanyahu will ignore the recommendations rather than grab this hot potato.

As long as Israel does not annex the territory, there is no legality to the settlements under Israel's own laws. Edmund Levy somehow managed to ignore this simple fact. If Israel does annex the West Bank it will have to deal with the consequences regarding the Palestinian population. Either they become citizens and Israel ceases to be a Jewish state, or they are denied their civil rights - confirming Israel as the new bearer of apartheid ideology and perpetuating the state of war with its neighbors.
