From my POV, the main advantage of either ProFunds RRPIX or Rydex's RYJUN, is the fact that you can use them in an IRA, where shorting is prohibited by government regs. So, whether it's a hedge against a long bond position in your IRA, or simply an approach to gain nicely as interest rates rise, it's a good deal within an IRA.
Cliff; I don't have an IRA but I do have a self directed ret. Trust and I have gone short and/or bought Puts for years. I am curious if any one out there can confirm Cliff's assertion that short sales are prohibited by IRS regs. and if so what is the penalty?
