http://news.yahoo.com/republican-leaders-worry-party-could-d...

Inside the cozy enclaves of GOP bonhomie—hunkered at the tables of see-and-be-seen Washington restaurants—Republican leaders are sourly predicting a party-busting independent presidential bid by a tea-party challenger, like Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., in 2016.

Please Gawd! Rand Paul:“Sweep the place clean. Limit their terms and send them home.”* And by that he meant Democrats and Republicans alike.*

And yet, the heart of the matter extends beyond the GOP. My conversations this week with two Republican officials, along with a Democratic strategist's timely memo, reflect a growing school of thought in Washington that social change and a disillusioned electorate threaten the entire two-party system.

How horrible! Electing true believers that will tell lobbyists that corporate welfare is over. And will shutter complete federal departments. I have a dream!

What America needs is term limits, single-term Senators and House members. No re-election possible, period. This would be the single best thing we could do in America to save America from her own government.

I hate to say it, because it will be good for neither organization, but it may be time for the Tea Party to say screw-you too to the Republican Party.

Let the Tea Party be an alternative to the Dems and Republicans as the Republicans lurch left to capture the constituency they seem to really yearn for.

I think the Tea Party can position itself very well in this. The party of the left and the party of the left center vs the conservative party and the right center party.

Since Obama is apparently looking to militarize domestically, he has made many moves in that direction, this is stuff usually assigned to the right. So as far as the whacky right? That looks like it will be lost to the Tea Party and is a natural Obama constituency

I hope they can do it clean and quick. Let the Republicans finally become what they really desire. A real alternative to the Dem Party for folks who are sane liberals.

As a constituational conservative and libertarian myself, I would absolutely love it if Rand could shake things up and even win the nomination.

But I believe that is about as possible as a liberal admitting that Obama spends to much.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I don't believe the powers in charge will ever allow it to happen. Reps and dems are corrupt and only allow socialist pukes like Clinton and Obama ....or Country club Republicans like Romney/Bush/Dole/McCane to get elected.

We'll never get the chance to vote for a statesmen for president unless our government is overthrown.

Well, Benjamin Carson has made an appearance on the national stage, so stay optimistic.

I used to think the same thing, until I got an semi-insiders view of how government works. Fine, term limit everyone out. Who is left running the place? The government employees: clerks, aides, etc., etc. You think the government is slow and irresponsible now, wait until its run by the people who run the post office.

If we are dumb enough to keep electing the morons, the we deserve the government we get.

However, I do think we need to adopt some reforms that other countries have put into place. Mostly, time and money limits on the campaign season.

I don't understand your question. Old bureaucrats move on to do whatever it is they do (become lobbyists) and new bureaucreats move in to mess up the country in their own way. How do you figure that clerks and aides would be running the government?

I don't understand your question.

Think of it along the old joke, if you want to know what is going on at work, don't ask the boss, ask the secretary.

Do you think the dim witted neanderthals in Congress really know how to get things done? Do you think they go through the process of researching, drafting, and filing the bills? No, its the aides/secretaries/et al. Its the ones that push the papers that get things done, or delayed. These people aren't elected and rarely fired.

I'm pretty sure each administration/elected official brings his/her own people when they arrive at the Capitol.

"Think of it along the old joke, if you want to know what is going on at work, don't ask the boss, ask the secretary." - JLC

My experience with working for Veterinarians for all those years was the ones that worked at UT Vet School liked to leave all the dirty work up to us technicians. They preferred to stay in their offices and just tell us what they needed or wanted done. We were there to do all the dirty work. Even after I started working in research my boss would just sit in her office and dream up experiments and then tell me what she wanted to do and then I set up the experiments and did all the animal work from start to finish. She just got back the slides with the tissue samples after it was all over. She never even looked at the Animals.
