Full disclosure: DH & I are 10 years ahead of you, and just last weekend wimped out on managing our own IRA dollars. As the amount in the IRA began to show some serious compounding growth, it seemed less & less like pie-in-the-sky, so-far-out-we-can't-even-imagine-drawing-on-it-in-retirement play-money. So we piled it all into Vanguard's Target Retirement 2035 fund, VTTHX. Just to ask, if you are 37 years old (a guess based upon the fund target), why not take the 2045? The current percentages are identical, but it will increase its investment in bonds slower. IMO with your knowledge, investment discipline, and long-term perspective, this slightly more aggressive approach might serve you better. Hockeypop
