I'm about to begin a 403(b) plan. There wasn't a self-directed option, just 20 or 30 funds/annuities to choose from.

I decided on T. Rowe Price's 2040 fund (ticker TRRDX). It's out-preformed the S&P 500 for the past few years. I guess the idea is that they choose riskier and more volatile stocks for a while, and as the year 2040 approaches, they gradually back off and become more conservative.
