IFX Expands Mexican Presence With Acquisition of Monterrey Based Internet Service Provider SDM Net

MIAMI, Jul 27, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) -- IFX Corporation
("IFX") (Nasdaq:FUTR) announced today the purchase of substantially all
of the users and assets of a Monterrey, Mexico based Internet Service
Provider, Sistema de Diseno y Manufactura S.A. de C.V. ("SDM Net").

SDM Net provides dial up, web design, web hosting, and LAN Dial
services to consumers and corporations in Monterrey. In addition, SDM
Net provides dedicated access services to other ISPs in smaller Mexican
markets such as Reynosa, Piedras Negras, Manzanillo, Miguel Aleman,
Valle Hermoso,Rosita, Sabinas, Linares, Cadereyta, and Torron. Terms of
the acquisition were not disclosed.

SDM Net brings to IFX a stable of corporate clients such as Nortel de
Mexico and 7-11 de Mexico, which adds to a sizable list of corporate
clients in Mexico, including Mitsubishi de Mexico, Cisco Systems de
Mexico, Sanyo de Mexico, American Chamber of Commerce, Progress
Software, World Trade Center Mexico, Bridgestone Firestone de Mexico,
and Periodico El Heraldo deMexico.

Commenting on this purchase, Joel Eidelstein, Chief Executive Officer
of IFX, said, "We believe this strategic purchase marks the first step
in expanding our Internet services throughout the country of Mexico. By
covering this important Latin American country with our own physical
points of presence, we are able to offer our customers local access
