fwiw, I see the guaranteed student loan program as having been conceived as another handout program to the financial industry, where banks make the profit and the government takes the risk.A tiny step toward reform was when the banks were cut out of the program and the government started making the loans itself.Real reform would be termination of the program. Then students would be forced to work their way through college. It may take them 8 years to finish a Batchelor's, but they will not have a five figure debt following them for the next several decades.Steve
