"I say put a cap on profits of gas companies.. anything over the limit goes to towards the federal deficet."Did you know that the gas (Big Oil) companies' per gallon profit is exceeded by the federal excise tax on the same gallon? Guess how much of that goes toward reducing the deficit. You hand the government more money, it just spends more money.~aj

Did you know that the gas (Big Oil) companies' per gallon profit is exceeded by the federal excise tax on the same gallon? Guess how much of that goes toward reducing the deficit. You hand the government more money, it just spends more money. As I recall, the total US profits of every energy company combined would not be sufficient to pay the annual expenses of the US government's Department of Energy.

"and this has anything to do with what Obama has done during his presidency? It's unregulated gas companies that have done this! I say put a cap on profits of gas companies.. anything over the limit goes to towards the federal deficet"the oil companies are the most regulated in existence. They make 8 to 10c a gallon on gas. The feds and states take in 50-70c per gallon in most states in taxes!....And this was a promotion in MI....the station sold gas at that price for a few hours. Needless to say the line was a mile long.t.
