WSJ article notes that bought PrimeStar Solar in 2007 and has been building a world scale thin film photovoltaic plant in Aurora, CO. But falling prices ended that venture.

First Solar gets GE new cadmium telluride thin film technology, and will manufacture with idle capacity in their own plant. GE retains an interest in solid state inverters (to convert photovoltaic DC to AC).
