Before working at RG Advisors, Gendelman worked at Clearbridge from 2006-2009. His profile page is still accessible:

Robert manages the Capital and Income strategy and one of our 130/30 strategies. He joined ClearBridge in July 2006 and has 28 years of investment industry experience.

Previously, Robert was at Cobble Creek Partners, LLC as founder, managing partner and a senior portfolio manager from 2003 to 2006. Prior to that, he worked for Neuberger Berman for 9 years, where he was a general partner and senior portfolio manager, for Harpel Advisors as a general partner and for Great Lakes Capital L.P. as founder and portfolio manager from 1987 to 1993. He began his career as an analyst focusing on merger arbitrage, restructurings and special situations. Robert holds a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan and both a JD and MBA from the University of Chicago.

SOPAX, for which Gendelman was PM from 2006-2009, underperformed the S&P by a wide margin, about 15%, during his tenure. Link below is to annual report from Dec. 31 2008 with a letter from the chairman. List of actual holdings starts on p.12

Lots of talk about sectors and structural risk, which is of course understandable. Absent is any discussion of buying great stuff on the cheap.
