This is my first post to this board. I've been primarily a lurker on METAR for the last two years. My wife and I are both physicians and the clinic we work for is in the process of restructuring. Actually, the PC is dissolving and a new clinic is being created so we will have the opportunity to take our 401Ks and roll them over into IRAs. So, I realize there are a lot of decisions to be make and it may be well boyone the scope of this board to answer them all... but I'm looking for a starting place and interested in various opinions on how to structure it and where to invest. I'm thinking that rolling both of our 401Ks into self-directed IRAs and investing in index funds might be the way to go. We are both willing to take on some risk but I don't like paying high fees. I'm in my mid-40s and we currently have about 500K in our combined 401Ks and are looking at retirement in possibly 15 years, although part time work would likely be an option at that point so we might not have to draw on it for 20-25yrs. Would anyone do anything other than roll it over into an IRA? Any thoughts on allocation? What resources, besides this board and Rule Your Retirement should I utilize?Broad questions, I realize, but interested in your thoughts!cschreiner
