Generally you use the average cost basis. Just divide your cost by the number of shares held. Your cost includes the taxable dividens and gains less the non taxable distributions. Uusally the company that manages the fund has the average cost information. It should be on your statements. The shares sold are on the FIFO (first in first out)method. Hope this helps.Gerry Z
