The overwhelming majority of posts, books, and "advisors" recommend getting a buyer's agent when buying a home. This seems to be reasonable advice. My question is: how do I go about doing this? What are the mechanics of obtaining a buyer's agent and how do I ensure that they are MY agent and not an agent for a variety of sellers who is just telling me that they are MY agent?
