Have any of you successfully gotten rid of wasps?

No, and I don't think you ever will. New Zealand was wasp free until a few years ago when the common variety was accidentally imported into the country. They have no natural predators and as a result have exploded into enormous numbers. In NZ's case we have a mild climate and unlike northern climates where the colonies die out over winter these keep growing and growing sometimes reaching colonies of millions. The only thing that stops them is a wet cold spring where food becomes scarce and they die out.
They pose a considerable threat to the wildlife because they the nectar that many species live on is eaten by the wasps.

NZ is actively involved in biological and genetic trialling but no success yet.

Harmy
