Good idea Navy...

This has been the most memorable year of running since I started running regularly about 3 years ago.

I ran my first marathon this year, the USAF Marathon in Ohio. It was during that race that I swore I would never run another marathon. It was after that race that I knew it was only my first of many marathons to come.

Lesson learned is to NEVER cut corners during training. Running half the days scheduled miles beats skipping the run all together.

One thing I want to do differently is to find a running partner(s). Running with music has been my standard practice but my most memorable runs of the year have been with friends or with perfect strangers made friends along a portion of a long run. I have no idea what all we talked about...but I remember we talked.

Lastly, this is my final year in snowy northern Japan...I hope my next assignment takes me someplace where the roads are clear year round so I don't have to endure task of running on a treadmill but can instead enjoy the pleasure of running outdoors.

Happy New Year everyone.

-Ryan
