Good idea to carry one color into the next room. I get ideas from the brochures companies put out, they have paid professionals to set these up. As you know colors fall in and out of favor. They often show a room in the colors and they they show alternate options in that range.

Colors next to each other have a coordinated look, Opposites give more punch but can be too much, in this case I'd gray down the colors.

One example is my old beige walls needed something. I had done 2 abstract drawings one in yellows and the other in aqua/blue range. Very contemporary. 6 months later I painted that wall and a few others a grayed down green. Since green is between blue and yellow I find it a very successful combination. I took out the red pillows on the couch and stumbled upon 2 yellow suede pillows in a charity shop. Such a deal.
