Good question by fiefdomone in message number 40: Who IS going to get the bulk of billing business now that there's deregulation of the utilities industry?

Here are some thoughts--

en-able (yes, lowercase) is a limited liability company owned by PacifiCorp Holdings (PPW) and KN Services (KNE). en-able helps position utilities for deregulation by providing a one-stop shop for a lot of consumer-related tasks-- infrastructure to support customer service and billing function, and marketing communications, etc.

Yesterday en-able and the SITEL Corporation (NYSE:SWW) announced a long-term business partnership. SITEL will be providing help with en-able's Simple Choice brand, and for utilities in need of call center and billing support.

Simple Choice is currently available in 10 states to 1.7 million customers.

SITEL is the largest teleservices company in the world. ("Teleservices", by the way, is one buzzword to watch for in your research on companies-- it implies likelihood of customer service work, like billing, for instance.) SITEL operates 9,700 workstations in 65 call centers in 13 countries throughout North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, covers over 25 languages and dialects, serves more than 400 clients in nine industries and employs more than 17,000 people.

``The SITEL relationship strengthens en-able's position as the industry leader in supporting customer retention for utilities as they enter a deregulated environment,' an en-able official says.

Hope that's of help.
