God of the Week (GOTW)

Welcome to God of the Week, or GOTW, an online, low-commitment, low cost, progressive-dinner-type, serially monotheistic deity cult for Fools.

At GOTW, we practice our faith as a demo-theocracy. In other words, we have a representative deity who takes care of our fears and worries, fills our lives with meaning and gives us everlasting hope—at least till the next week when a new God is elected. While we may have many Gods, we only have one true God at a time—we're not pagans after all.

The GOTW cult is open to people of all backgrounds. Just remember that you shall have no other God before the GOTW—unless you talking chronologically—in that case you will have lots of other Gods before the one that happens to be elected that week by the followers of the Faith.

How is GOTW selected?

Each week, GOTW is selected by popular vote (in the form of an online poll). The weekly GOTW poll will be posted by the Moderator Prophet (which will be Spy until further notice) on Wednesday (approximately) of each given week. The GOTW poll results will be posted 48 hours later (give or take a few hours). Potential Gods will be selected from the suggestions of GOTW followers from the previous week.

Can I participate in GOTW?

Please do. You are encouraged to suggest Gods, discuss the theology of GOTW, interpret the writings and holy words of GOTW, discuss the relevance of GOTW to your personal life, speak in tongues, and post things that are unrelated to GOTW. We only ask that you obey the Fool Rules.

Who can become GOTW?

Well, we try not to put GOTW in a box.

Is the GOTW a Non-Profit Organization?

GOTW has no standing as an economic entity. Since donations of assets are neither sought out or accepted, GOTW has no income and no expenses.

Anything else I should know?

Yes, but you'll just have to figure that out for yourself.
