Granted, I am not a Sox fan. But, I appreciate the blunt honesty in contrast to the cliched responses to such interviews. It is certainly not like Manny has mailed it in this playoff series. He has played pretty well.

I heard the soundbite. Manny's tone about it all seemed pretty upbeat to me. He prefaced the comment by alluding to going out doing what they do and winning. His end of the world comment was about if it didn't work out and they don't win. I didn't get the impression you wouldn't get Manny's best until they are eliminated. Further, I think the Sox will get the best out of Manny when he loose as a goose as opposed to wound up with the gravity of elimination.

What does a fan want? A proclamation that the players will get flogged and water boarded if they lose? The truth of the matter is it is a game and life will go on, no matter who wins. I think that is all Manny was saying. I read it all to mean "only one team ends up on top, and if we give it our all, and that's not us, we did all we can do, and we will go at it again next year".

In my opinion it is much to do about nothing.
