First, although I have been lucky, consider family and friends and career a given.

After that I am grateful for—in no particular order—peonies, good shoes, chicken/gorgonzola salad, self-adhesive stamps, my sweet church, Roy Orbison, oceans and lakes, oatmeal, my perfect kitty, The Mikado, parliamentary procedure, rain, The New Yorker, teachers, ferries, baseball, Ireland, area heaters, Google, old photos, Shaker boxes, tuberose soap, online banking, Maureen Dowd, garbage disposals, starlight skies, Morse code, yellow markers, Christmas cactus, being debt-free, camping, videos, sharp knives, ice cold Diet Pepsi, driving, my Handspring, jigsaw puzzles, Crazy Horse, maps, sneezes, the stock market, Herman Wouk, sunscreen, wristwatches, postcards, environmentalists, choruses, Walla Walla sweets, color printers, the Dixie Chicks, biographies, my laundry chute, and the kindness of strangers.
