GrayWulff, just started reading this board today hence the date.

I grew up in western NY and the Finger Lakes region is very nice. My wife and I like mts. so we live in Vt. but are moving to Maine. What can I say about Vt.? Volumes and not the point.

What do you like to do? I strongly recommend looking at a town (Ithaca or others) with a good college. They should have plenty of programs - music, art exhibitions, lectures that could be a lot of fun and often free.

My wife and I (59, semi-retired) initially thought we wanted to live out, way out. But now have decided we need/prefer easier access to necessities - med., stores, resturants - personal taste.

NH is pretty but goofy. The 'no personal income tax' is misleading in a serious way. Most property taxes are 2-4x most places in Vt. or Me.

We like small towns or villages - less hassle and crime (usually).

Be happy to elaborate. Regards, B.
